This site celebrates the exciting range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) opportunities at Alderman Peel High School—from inspiring classroom projects and STEM Club adventures to industry partnerships, educational visits and national competitions.

Here in North Norfolk, we're surrounded by one of the UK's fastest-growing renewable energy sectors. Projects such as Sheringham Shoal and Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farms, operated by Equinor, are creating exciting careers in engineering, science and technology right on our doorstep.

At APHS, our ambition is to be a STEM Excellence Hub for North Norfolk, equipping students with the skills, confidence and curiosity to thrive in these future careers while celebrating their creativity, innovation and achievements.

We're proud to have been recognised nationally for our commitment to STEM. In 2025, APHS was named STEM School of the Year, while Mrs Amanda Moffat received a National D&T Award for Outstanding Industry Engagement. Building on this success, Mrs Moffat was appointed a Regional Design & Technology Leader by the Design and Technology Association, establishing APHS as the East of England D&T Hub and one of the first 16 regional D&T hubs across the country.

Celebrating STEM Excellence @APHS

Our students' achievements extend far beyond the classroom. From national awards and industry partnerships to regional leadership, we're proud that APHS has become recognised as a centre of excellence for STEM education.

2023 - Gold STEM Clubs Quality Mark (SCQM)

Awarded by STEM Learning in recognition of our outstanding, student-led STEM programme across the whole school.

2024 & 2025 - National D&T Excellence Awards

Mrs Moffat received the Outstanding Industry Engagement Award, while long-standing mentor Kieron Scillitoe was recognised as Outstanding Industry Partner, celebrating the strength of our employer partnerships.

2025 - STEM School of the Year

APHS won the national Education Business Award for innovation, inclusivity and high-impact STEM education.

2025 - Big DT Meet Keynote

In 2025, Mrs Amanda Moffat was invited to contribute to the keynote presentation at the Big DT Meet, a national Design & Technology event organised by Kate Finlay at Hethersett Academy, a fellow East of England Regional D&T Leader.

Drawing on APHS's award-winning STEM journey, she shared how industry partnerships, sustainability projects and hands-on engineering experiences have transformed opportunities for students in North Norfolk.

2026 - Regional Leadership & DT Hub School

APHS has been recognised nationally as a East of England Design & Technology Hub School, following Mrs Amanda Moffat's appointment as one of just 14 Regional D&T Leaders selected by the Design and Technology Association.

This recognition reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, real-world STEM education through an ambitious curriculum, strong industry partnerships and innovative opportunities including Greenpower, Team Repair and our growing programme of primary school outreach.

As an East of England Regional D&T Leader, Mrs Moffat now works with the Design and Technology Association to support teachers across the region by sharing best practice, strengthening professional networks and building closer links between schools and industry. For our students, Hub School status creates even greater opportunities to connect with employers, take part in enrichment activities and be inspired by future careers in engineering and design.
